Sub-plenaries addressing sustainability and salutogenesis |
| |
Two new sub-plenary sessions have been confirmed. They are dealing with lessons in sustainability and equity from urban Latin America and the salutogenic framework in the implementation of health promotion theory and practice.
The first session will explore the convergence of strategies addressing health promotion and chronic disease prevention with those aimed at social engagement and equity, environmental protection and sustainable transport.
The second sub-plenary is an interactive panel responding to the contemporary salutogenic evidence base of the Ottawa Charter. The aim is to demonstrate the effectiveness of the salutogenic framework in the implementation of health promotion.

Healthy3 – an initiative for a healthy future |
| |
A globalized world needs answers for key challenges to society - developments which imperil the health of individuals, societies and the planet as a whole. Health Promotion Switzerland plans to use “Geneva 2010” as a platform to start a process of jointly finding answers to the big questions around health and sustainable development. The initiative is entitled healthy3 and stands for a vision of healthy people in healthy societies on a healthy planet.
The World Conference will not only see the launch of the healthy3 initiative but also first ideas how to put the initiative into practice. In advance of the Conference, propositions are discussed in an interdisciplinary think tank which brings together representatives from academia, business, governmental and nongovernmental organisations.

Building bridges between health promotion and sustainable development |
| |
Organisers of “Geneva 2010” aim towards a sustainable conference! Different initiatives and actions are planned to achieve this aim. For example, all CO2 emissions generated by the conference itself (food, air conditioning, etc.) will be fully compensated by the conference organisers. Participants are encouraged to compensate their own individual travel carbon emissions to Geneva. You can offset all or part of these when registering to the World Conference on www.iuhpeconference.net.
|
"Geneva 2010" is using Twitter |
| |
The IUHPE student and early career network (ISECN) will make use of social networks to promote “Geneva 2010”. It has created a Twitter service for the Conference. Follow the tweets and always be up to date about the Conference! Post your questions on the micro blog of “Geneva 2010” and the authors will try and get answers for you!
