PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Discover Geneva!
Geneva has been successful in combining the best of both worlds. It is an up-to-date international centre of world importance and a small and friendly town of only 180,000 inhabitants. Some call it the ‘world’s smallest metropolis’, others, the ‘capital of health’. For ideas what to do in the leisure time, please click here.

Conference Venue
The World Conference will take place in the International Conference Centre Geneva, 17 Rue de VarembĂ©,  CH -1211 Geneva 20. It is easily accessible from different parts of Geneva on foot, by bike or by public transport.

Public Transport
Don’t forget to pick up a free ticket for public transport from the machine in the baggage collection area at the arrival level of the Geneva International Airport! During the World Conference you will have a special TPG coupon (available upon registration) that will allow you to use the public transport free of charge from 11th to 15th July.

BE ACTIVE AND CREATIVE

Take a Walk on the Wild Side!
Creative and interactive learning methods in sub-plenaries, parallel and poster sessions have been clustered under the slogan ‘Take a Walk on the Wild Side’. Five rooms in the adjoining building CCV aka ‘Wild Side’ and alternative working spaces in the main conference building CICG [WS A1, WS A2, WS A3 and WS A4] will host interactive workshops and sub-plenaries. Be part of this unique experience – Take a Walk on the Wild Side!

Multicultural Stage: Express yourself!
There will be a stage in the main conference building CICG for cultural productions by the participants. Whether as a group or individually, planned or spontaneously, improvised, or rehearsed: the cultural diversity of the different continents will find an ideal platform for expression.

A Stage just for you! We provide a platform for your own precious ethnical contributions whether in the form of music or other creative ways. Use the following e-mail to announce us your special contribution: expressyourself@iuhpeconference.net

Healthy and Fit
During the conference all participants are offered sport and relaxation courses. The sport side-activities programme will include activities such as biking, jogging, fitness, yoga, and badminton. Activities will be held in the morning before the sessions and at noon, during the lunch break. Don’t leave your sport equipment (including bathing suits) at home! Please ask the sport activities desk at the entrance of the conference center for further information and directions.

World Cup Final – Live from South Africa at the Conference Centre
After the Welcome Reception on Sunday 11th July, there is no need for anybody to wander around town and look for a place to watch the Football World Cup Final. A bar will ensure that snacks and beverages are available! Be there and don’t miss the kick off at 20:30, July 11th, 2010. May the best win!

Social Evenings with Bar and Music [Monday, July 12th & Wednesday, July 14th]
Relax, unwind and have a good time! On Monday and Wednesday after the scientific sessions, the conference bar will offer drinks and snacks. Enjoy a nice evening in good company in this international atmosphere. Drinks, snacks and dancing music [by DJ Carol Fernandez] are provided.

Swiss Night – The World Meets in Geneva [Halle SĂ©cheron, Tuesday, July 13th 19:00 – 24:00]
This evening entertainment is the official event by the organisers in an informal atmosphere. It takes place in an old industrial building in the center of Geneva within walking distance from the conference center. Our typical Swiss masterpieces are ready to pamper your plate. Some of the finest musicians from the Swiss music scene will be presenting an exciting mixture of traditional Swiss folk music and new compositions with traditional Swiss instruments.
