20th IUHPE World Conference on Health Promotion
Health, Equity and Sustainable Development
11-15 July 2010, Geneva, Switzerland

  The one year countdown to July 2010 to celebrate the opening of the 20th IUHPE World Conference on Health Promotion in Geneva, Switzerland, begins!

The scientific programme is well in development and the list of confirmed key note speakers is growing. More information on this and other practical details, like abstract submission deadlines, registration or accommodation are available here (PDF, 387 kb). The information is currently in English, but it will be available in French, Spanish and German in August, 2009.

First Keynote Speakers confirmed

 

Mirai Chatterjee
The coordinator of Social Security at Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) is currently responsible for SEWA’s Health Care, Child Care and Insurance programs. Ms Chatterjee is advisor to the National Commission for the Unorganized Sector and the National Rural Health Mission and was also a Commissioner in the World Health Organization’s Commission on Social Determinants of Health in the past. Ms. Chatterjee will participate in the plenary on “Linking Health Promotion and Sustainable Development to Social and Cultural Change”.



Maria Lourdes Fernando
The thrice elected Mayor of Marikina City, that is considered one of the most progressive, peaceful, and environmentally-conscious cities in the Philippines, will bring to the plenary her perspective on “New Territorial Change and Urbanisation”.





Molly Melching
The founder and executive director of Tostan (meaning "breakthrough" in the Wolof language), a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) whose mission it is to empower African communities for sustainable development and social transformation in the respect of human rights, will give inspiring insights on territorial change and urbanisation.




Prof. David Satterthwaite
Fellow at the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) and editor of the international journal Environment and Urbanization, Professor Satterthwaite will address the plenary session on “New Perspectives on Territorial Change and Urbanisation”.
