Organisation


Health Promotion Switzerland serves as Co-Chair of the Organising Committee and with its partners will sit on the “Geneva 2010” Oversight Committee. The foundation is also Vice-Chair of the Global and the Swiss Scientific Committee. To organise this conference jointly with the Canton of Geneva, we will coordinate our activities with several Federal Offices.


A number of committees and working groups are responsible for the scientific programme and all organisational matters for the Geneva 2010 conference:

  • Oversight Committee ensures that the Conference is effectively developed on behalf of the IUHPE and  is being carried out in an effective and efficient manner over the preparatory years

  • Global Scientific Committee develops and implements the scientific programme for the conference, in particular in relation to: 
    • Developing the scientific programme in support of the main theme for the conference, and articulating the core themes within that;
    • Decides on the structure of the conference in close cooperation with the Conference Organising Committee (COC); 
    • Identifies speakers for keynote, plenary and debate/dialogue or other major sessions; 
    • Commissions/develops/oversees specific sub-groups who would contribute to the programme (i.e. language groups, working groups, thematic groups); 
    • Servs as an ambassador at relevant occasions to promote the conference’s scientific agenda; 
    • Reviews abstracts and finalises scientific programme.

  • Swiss Scientific Committee is a sub-group of the Global Scientific Committee that
    • proposes the structure for the conference
    • develops initial ideas for keynotes, plenary and debate/dialogue sessions
    • identifies key issues of local interest and partners with international GSC members to develop how those issues will be explored
    • contributes to and arranges for reviewing of abstracts and finalisation of scientific programme

  • Conference Organisation Committee approves all key concepts and documents; is responsible for all organizational matters, as well as controlling, coordination and reporting.
  • Six committees and working groups supports the work of Conference Organisation Committee:
    • Partnership and Sponsorship Committee
    • Equity and Bursaries Committee
    • Communication and Media Committee
    • Conference Didactics Working Group
    • Sustainable Development Mobilization Working Group
    • Cultural and Social Programme Working Group
  • Ambassadors of the conference promote the World Conference “Geneva 2010” at meetings with their peers or at other relevant events.
