Instructions for Oral Presentations

Dear Presenter
Please prepare a very brief biographical introduction which can be used by the Chair of the session(s) in which you are presenting in order to introduce you including no more than your
  • Name, Surname
  • Current Position
  • Institution/Affiliation
  • City/Country
We would kindly request you to bring this with you to the session and provide it to the chair before the session starts. The brevity of the presenter introductions will ensure the session begins efficiently, allowing a maximum amount of time for you and your peer’s presentations and adequate time for discussion.

General Guidelines
  • Each oral presentation session comprises of 90 minutes and accommodates 4-5 presentations. Accordingly, each will be allotted 15 minutes: 10 minutes oral presentation and 5 minutes for questions and answers with minimal time allowed for moving between presenters and introductions. Due to the tight schedule and to ensure all presenters have equal opportunity, the session chairs nominated by the Global Scientific Committee will be instructed to strictly enforce session times. Please do not go over the allotted time.
  • The sequence of your presentation and the presentations of your peers within your session can be found either in the abstract submittion letter or in the online programme.
  • Target your remarks to the audience. Participants will include professionals and practitioners, researchers and international experts, decision- and policy makers, as well as students from key disciplines, institutions.
  • Focus on key messages in your presentation. Quickly summarize your methodology and link your key outcomes and implications for the field to the conference themes. Do not try to do too much. Try to summarize your key points at the end of your presentation.


Audiovisual guidelines
Please note that the following audiovisual material will be available for your presentation:
  • Conference rooms will be fully equipped with computers supporting Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 from Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition© with Microsoft Office 2007©. PowerPoint 2003 and any earlier version can also be accommodated.
  • Mac presentations should be saved in PC format.
  • 35mm slide projection and overhead projection will NOT be available.
Therefore, when preparing an electronic presentation, please make sure that it is fully compatible with above mentioned standards. The organisers and IUHPE cannot be held responsible if a presentation fails to run because these standards were not observed.

Please arrive at the session meeting room at least 15 minutes before the start of your session. Take time to familiarize yourself with the setup of the room and meet the session chair nominated by the Global Scientific Committee.

Speakers Preview Room
All speakers are requested to check in at the Speakers Preview Room at least two hours before the session (or the day before for early morning sessions). You will be able to upload your PowerPoint© presentation and/or slides on a central server. It is imperative that you have your presentation reviewed in the speakers preview room especially if it contains video files, or if it was created on Macintosh computer to ensure it’s proper functioning. IUHPE 2010 will run PC computers for the presentations.

Please bring your electronic presentation with you on a USB stick or on CD!

If any changes regarding the presenting author occur, a written statement needs to be sent to indicating the conference, the abstract number, the old presenter and the new presenter at the very latest until the 30th of April 2010. After this date no changes can be considered for the printed programme.
