Thomas Streiff joined BHP – Brugger and Partners Ltd. in August 2004. His fields of expertise at BHP cover the strategic consulting and coaching of multinational companies in shaping and integrating the principles of sustainability. He advises clients of the public and private sector in developing and implementing natural resource management policies, strategies and practices. Planning, managing and documenting complex multi-stakeholder processes are others fields of expertise. He is CEO of The Sustainability Forum Zurich (www.sustainability-zurich.ch) - an internationally well-reputed organisation that offers business leaders a platform to exchange ideas and experiences with respect to sustainable business models.
Prior to that, in his post as a senior manager the Group Sustainability Management unit of Swiss Re, he headed a worldwide leading reinsurance company (1997- 2004), for which he had been working as a risk manager between 1994 and 1995. In total, Thomas Streiff was working for five years for Swiss development and cooperation agencies as a technical advisor and project coordinator in Kenya, Tanzania and India. During his assignment as research assistant at the Institute of Food Science and Nutrition of ETH Zurich, where he promoted in 1989, he thought at a technical high school and later lectured at the Postgraduate Course for Developing Countries.
Thomas was a delegate and advisor of several associations, foundations and committees such as World Business Council for Sustainable Development, United Nations Environment Programme – Finance Initiative, IMD-Corporate Sustainability Management Forum, Swiss Centre for Environmental Training and Sustainability and the UN Commission for Sustainable Development (CSD-12). He is also author to different publications and has held numerous speeches on the subject of corporate sustainability and natural resource management.
